We will be meeting Tuesday, December 16th at 9:30AM.  You can hand in the final project at this time or you can use this time to complete the paper - it must be completed by 11:30AM.

Please email me at alissa.renner@willistonstate.edu if you have any questions!

Final Paper

Write a three-page, size 12, double spaced, 1" margin paper on "How Technology Affects My Life".
Please use specific examples as well as broad statements. Be sure to discuss various aspects such as communication, ethical factors, advancements, etc.

All final projects must be handed in as a hard copy and a digital copy must be uploaded to your e-portfolio.

E-Portfolio

The following items need to be uploaded to your e-portfolio:
   1.  Class syllabus (can be found on Moodle)
   2.  Final paper (mentioned above)
   3.  A quick summary of how you met the following outcomes for this course (this can be less than one page but needs to be at least one good paragraph!)
                 Students will be able to:
                     1. Use current news events to interpret the effects of technology.
                     2. Identify technology developments to debate the effects on society.
                     3. Create presentations reflecting analysis of current trends in technology.

Blog post reply

This is the last thing on the list so once I see your reply I'll know you read through the whole thing and know what to expect!  Please reply to this post with three things you enjoyed about this class and one thing (or more) you would change in the future!

  1. I enjoyed the blogging, the easiness, and the instructor. In the future I would change having to do a three page paper to something more like a page and a half or maybe even two pages.

  2. Three things I enjoyed about this class were: taking a look at things and events in a different way than I normally would, my teacher, I was really aware of events that were happening and I think knowing what's going on around you is important. One thing I didn't enjoy about this class was that there was no way of knowing your grade on moodle.

  3. I enjoyed learning about today's topics and technologies, the being able to openly talk about my opinion, and the laid back atmosphere. In the future I would change the final paper too. Two pages would of been enough, I might have rambled a bit to reach the three page requirement.

  4. 3 things I enjoyed about this class were the discussions, the fact that we talked a lot about current events instead of "old news", and the fun atmosphere.

  5. I enjoyed this class because it was one of my more fun classes; we never really had homework and you knew you could complete your assignment during class time. I also liked that we kept up on current events and I could easily share my opinion. Something I would change about this class would be having access to your grades.

  6. This class was great in many aspects but the main one was the research and reflection we did about a topic. Second was the output or “talk time” we shared with each other. Through the chats, I was able to learn and see others’ perspectives about a subject. Third was the style of the homework. It didn’t require much effort, which made it easier to learn and go further on research something I was more interested in. Hard to think of something to change, but perhaps emphasize, or compare how the lack of technology affects society and further explain about the positive and negative outcomes of social implication. Overall, I loved learning more about how technology affects our daily lives! Thanks Alissa!

  7. I over all loved this class. I didn't want to miss a day because I liked what we learned about. I recommend this class to my friends all the time because it's that awesome. Three things that I liked about this course:
    1) How we learned about everyday occurances, and how they effected our lives without us even really knowing.
    2) How we discussed everything in class. I learned a lot reading the blogs, but I learned even more hearing peoples ideas and opinions about them.
    3) I surprisingly liked how we blogged about things. I love to type, and i'm sure this has a factor but discussing it is one thing, but being able to write about how I truly feel about an issue is more important to me.
I wouldn't change a thing about this course!
Thank you Alissa for a great semester!

  8. If I would have to pick three things that I enjoyed about this class was that it wasn't that difficult, it was a fun class to take, and I learned a lot of things about todays technology. If I had to pick one thing specifically that I didn't enjoy was that we have to do a three page paper!! :) But overall I wouldn't changed a thing!

  9. I enjoyed getting to share my rather cynical view of the things I love, the lack of driving to and from class, and lastly I liked looking at current event through a technological filter over it all.

And to a thing to change probably the use of blogger. I have no real suggestions for alternatives but I've never been a blog person.

  10. Here are my three thing that I enjoy doing in this class. looking at blog, commenting on the blog and talk about it as a class. one thing i want to change in the future is that maybe i should write longer paragraph in blog or maybe two or three more about what was on the articles.

  11. Three things I enjoyed about this class is, it wasn't hard, but at the same time it was fun and interesting. I enjoyed blogging and sharing my opinion, and also learning new stuff that I didn't know. If I had to choose one thing I would change. It would be, I wouldn't sit by Zack, cause he was always doing something where you had to get on to him. That was pretty embarrassing to even sit by him. hahahaha

  12. The first thing I enjoyed about this class was how many new current event I learned about. I didn't realize how uninvolved I am with today's current events. I also liked hearing everyone's opinion on the various topics we talked about. I like hearing what others have to say and why they think that way. The third think I enjoyed was no homework. We learned just as much, if not more and we didn't need any pointless extra work. I don't really have any complaints about this class. I have I had to pick one I guess I would say having more access to your grade. Thank Alissa!

  13. I enjoyed learning about Steve Jobs and his involvement with Apple. I liked that we didn't have any homework the whole semester. The best thing i liked about this class was that we had a great teacher who was actually involved in our every day posts. One thing I would change about this class would be learning about new and advanced technologies being produced around the world.

  14. I enjoyed how this class you could have any type of opinion, I enjoyed how we learned a lot about different areas of the world and how society was for them, and that we could hear others ideas about certain topics. I would change how we learned about technology that we may have gone back farther in the past. Thanks Alissa!

  15. I loved the over all feel of this class, It was a friendly atmosphere. We could always have our own opinion and were able to share it openly in class. I found this enjoyable because it gives you a perspective of other peoples feelings and thoughts because we all seem to be worried about our own 24/7. I loved my teacher and the way that she taught the class. I learned a lot and I'm glad I had this experience at WSC.

  16. I enjoyed that the the whole class was basally on the computer. This was easy to manage and operate. I liked the blogging and how I heard about current evens through this class. I loved the discussions we had and how everybody was entitled to their own opinion. I really enjoyed having no homework. The only thing I would change in the future would be that students should be required to comment on every daily topic. This would spark more controversy and better discussions. Our class was very quiet. Thanks for the fun semester!
