Right away I thought about Black Friday. I noticed that more and more people want to stay at home and order online. I do like online shopping but it's always a guessing game whether you will like the product or if the item is clothes, if it will fit. I think it shows that people would rather sit at home and shop than to go out in the crazy crowd of Black Friday. I want to go Black Friday shopping because I am getting my own apartment next month but my mom has decided against it. I have never even remembered Cyber Monday but I could look into it this year. I think people go to the extremes on Black Friday. I have heard some stories of people getting trampled and it seems like an event that would make me crabby with people so I probably won't be participating any time soon.
ReplyDeleteI am not going to participate in any of this craziness unless my mom drags me into doing so. I am not a big shopper and black Friday is way to busy in the first place so I would have to say it's just not for me!
ReplyDeleteThese words make me think of the shopping season between Thanksgiving and Christmas. These are days of the week when items online and in store are extremely on sale. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest sale days in the US. Companies make a huge profit on these days because people are jumping on the sales opportunities to buy gifts for friends and family. I will not be doing any Black Friday shopping because it honestly scares me a little. Parents, especially moms, can be scary on that day. I probably will shop a little online on Monday because it will be from the safety of my own home!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw these words I thought of Thanksgiving and Black Friday. A common trend that I noticed was Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping are increasing. I think it shows we are super hungry to get the good deals. Some people go to crazy extremes to get the deals. I think lately that Thanksgiving is just becoming a quick holiday, where families will eat then go stand in line to go shopping. Thanksgiving is a holiday where we should give thanks and be with our families, but it seems to be losing more meaning every year. I might go up to Minot shopping Friday or Saturday just because we have that weekend off and thats the only time I have to go shop. You will not see me standing in line for a certain deal or getting in a fight over something. I think some of all the craziness is dumb; I have heard of someone getting trampled to death on Black Friday. Is it really worth your life to get that good deal?
ReplyDeleteWhen I see these words I think of holidays you know. Giving it reminds me of christmas because thats what christmas is about. Black it reminds me of black Friday when all the prices go down and everything is cheap and it's a great time during the holidays. Small reminds me of kids I love kids I'm a kids kinda guy so when I hear small that's what I think of. Cyber sounds like another big sale day for people to have a chance of getting things they want for low prices.
ReplyDeleteWhen looking at the four words in the title, the first thing that comes to mind is shopping. I notice Starting Friday, there are awesome deals in stores, then moving to Monday there are great deals online, skipping over to Tuesday is a great thing to do all around, its where you donate money to any charity they wish to give money to. Time around Thanksgiving is just a great time of the year. Whether its watching football, being with your family, shopping and best of all... eating! These trends tell us that people are willing to get up early and try and get the best deals out there. Everyone wants to the cheapest items out there. I will not be participating on Black Friday due to basketball. I wouldn't want to shop in Williston anyways because of the craziness. Cyber Monday could be an option though since I can sit at home and shop. It is crazy how people can get up and or even stay the night right out in front of the store just to get the best deals.
ReplyDeleteA trend I notice is that they all have to do with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Also cyber monday will generate a 1.5 billion in sales this year. #Give Tuesday is a day in which stores host food drives to help the needy. Therefore, i will probably participate in Black Friday and Cyber Monday. My thoughts are that it is crazy, people get so worked up just to save a couple hundred bucks.
ReplyDeleteTo me what comes to mind is Black Friday, small prices, Cyber Monday, and also the charity being held on the following Tuesday. These trends, in my opinion, express that our economy is doing well and must purge the remaining inventory from the past year in order to move into new products and also 2015. I usually participate in Black Friday in Minneapolis with my family. I honestly think that it is interesting to watch the people and how they react on Black Friday.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what to think of those words, but I think that mobilizing Black Friday is a great idea. I'm more likely to participate in it now knowing that I don't have to leave the couch or get shot to snag a good deal. Black Friday in America is absolutely ridiculous, it reminds me of the movie purge and there is zero chance I will be putting myself out there it get hurt over a sweater. Making this available for people on the internet I thinks a great idea because not only will in bring it sales but it may die down all the craziness is some places. This says that society is advancing even further, and I really support this idea. No broken bones this Black Friday for me!
ReplyDeleteBlack Friday has always been something I wold participate in with some buddy's. Reason being would just be an excuse to be hanging out with some people at the mall in the middle of the night. This also would get me really excited for the Holiday season. I was never a big online shopper. I always thought that it would be harder to shop because of sizes and little things about the shirt I wouldn't have liked when I was wearing it compared to just looking at a picture of it online. I think that black Friday is crazy at some stores and shows how media based and technological based we are. A lot of people put a lot of effort into getting these items.
ReplyDeleteThis words make me think of black Friday shopping. I usually do my black Friday shopping at the stores. But with the word cyber it makes me think of online shopping which I have never done on black Friday. I will be attending the black Friday shopping madness. I usually buy one big thing like a tv, then a bunch of small things like Stanley tools. This year I will be shopping in Denver Colorado, cause that's where I will be over some of the break.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the 4 words in the title I couldn’t think of anything that related. After reading the articles I noticed that they are all about Black Friday and sales are all going up. The first article stated that mobile devices accounted for over 16% of total sales on Black Friday. The second article stated that Cyber Monday sales increased by 27% from last year. The third said that after Black Friday people get so caught up in consuming that they forget to give back to the unfortunate. These trends say that our society is getting even more lazy as now they don’t even leave their house to do their Black Friday shopping, they just order online. Companies make huge profits it seems like on Black Friday. I will not be participating in this event because I will be at home in Canada and we do not have this. We have Boxing Day, which is the day after Christmas and is the exact same thing.. complete madness all over the city. People wait hours to get into certain stores, especially electronic stores. Not to mention lululemon which never really has great sales, but people line up anyway. My thoughts on this craziness are good for the people who camp outside of BestBuy all night, that is some real dedication. I’m a huge shopper and would definitely be out in the rush if it wasn't so insane but that wont be happening this year.
ReplyDeleteI thought about the holidays when reading the title. I noticed that people spend a lot of money between black friday and cyber monday, it's crazy. I don't think I'm a be participating in these events, the crowd gets to wild and it's just a big mess.
ReplyDeletecyber Monday has been the biggest hit this year and that retails has been growing since 2011. this was first held in the first Monday before black Friday which was the biggest shopping day so that people can shop at the stores. Cyber Monday can make $1.5 million in sales.
ReplyDeleteMy first initial impression was a small African American (Black) child being cyber-bullied and people are giving him/her a hard time. But after I looked at the links, I came to a sudden realization that it was a Black Friday heading. The trends thats I notice is extremely low prices being sold at retailers, shopping malls, and the internet such as Amazon, on a particular date. This trend would suggest that companies such as Apple will be making a huge profit on Black Friday which takes the money out of average Americans which is used for necessities such as mortgage and food and putting that money into the big cooperations which worsens the economy. On Black Friday I would like to purchase some products such as video cameras on Amazon. I believe it is a cool trend were consumers can buy expensive products for cheap prices and give to friends and family.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't think of black Friday or cyber Monday when I first looked at these words but now after reading you could write a whole two pages on those words without even reading any further than the four initial words, those words perfectly describe those articles. A common trend that I see is the popularity of the shopping days, every year more and more people are driving to block buster and more people are logging on to their tablets to buy more goods. I will not be participating in this shopping craziness, I have no desire to fight people for a tv or stand in a line across the parking lot. And I really don't do much shopping online, if I want something ill go get it.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that came to mind was the “big sale” of a cell phone, for some reason I imagined the iPhone. However, when combining the word “giving” I imagined there was a “donation” concept behind it. Being my first year to experience the Black Friday in the country, I was not aware of the history this day has.
ReplyDeleteIt’s pretty amazing to see how much technology has created a ripple effect towards the economy in the U.S. and other countries. Through anticipating the days, or just making it more convenient and easier for the shopper to participate. Another example is how it has influenced other countries, specifically Brazil, where big companies also participate in this day to increase their sales regardless of the Thanks Giving, and the web media have been the “bridge” to gain new customers for the Black Friday.
Knowing what a huge financial repercussion it’s for sales and companies, I think it’s a perfect opportunity to bring to bring the #GivingTuesday idea into the equation. With all the running around and anxiety getting the best deal, it’s easy to get lost in the “consumer” context. But by bringing the #GivingTuesday idea, I think it breaks down the consumer’s mentality to bring “charity” to those in needs. Even though, this year, I’m not focused on purchasing something specific, I’ll be happy to contribute to an identity that needs support for a meaningful cause when purchasing an item.
I had read an article earlier this week about most of these words I had herd that, 'this year was the biggest cyber sale ever, and most of it was on mobile devices'. In this context I believed they were cyber monday black friday, cell phone usage during these sales but giving had me stumped. The economy and society are being molded and shaped to match peoples incessant use of cell phones and tablets. I have never been a guy to go out and participate I like staying home and just playing video games. I hate this kind of craziness that massive sales cause, I like quiet.
ReplyDeleteOnce seeing black friday and cyber monday you can tell that someone has told you a story about it. You would be able to write pages about it just from what you have heard from others. The words describe the articles without having to read them. Every year more people are participating in one or the other event. Each year the store has to amp up what they sold the previous year for sales. The popularity of them grows when people hear about the deal, even though they will have to wait in line they are just gambling there time to see if they can get it cause no one knows how many of a certain product they are going to give out. I will not participate in theses events as I will be in Canada. I may try to do some online shopping as I do enjoy this. Will see if it comes to my mind when the monday comes up.
